Here at Common Growth we won’t let the cold and dark winter months stand in our way! We are very excited that Louise from Grow Wild will be setting up a field kitchen in the garden this Sunday for a soup making workshop! What better way to warm yourself up after a winter walk or even a spot of gardening! So do drop in and taste some deliciously healthy soup, from locally sourced ingredients such as leeks and herbs straight from the Common Growth garden. Louise will be there from 2-3pm this Sunday the 11th of November.
The intention is that ‘Soup on Sunday’ will become a regular event in the Common Growth calendar. The next Soup session will be on Sunday November the 25th from 2pm.
Hope you come and join us on these Souper Sundays 🙂
(If you feel like doing some gardening while you’re there, some beds need to be cleared and tidied up for winter; the compost heaps need to be turned – and compost from the bins (it’s very good quality!) can be added to the raised beds.)

The Halloween Event at Common Growth was a success. Many thanks to Suriya, Ruth, Louise, Ella and Jim who organised it. There was games, singing, planting, art, and a soup making demonstration by Louise from Grow Wild. The photos attached tell the story of a fun afternoon! It is great to see that the space is put to good use this time a year. Hope to see more of this at CG in the future.
We’ll be doing more building stuff over the winter period. Not too much growing anymore – apart from Broad beans and garlic, and some salads. We’re also waiting to pick the brussels sprouts and dig up the Jerusalem Artichokes. Does anybody know how you’re supposed to know the artichokes are ready for digging up?
Some of us have discussed having a ‘Christmas Party’ at the garden with mulled wine and mince pies! You’ll definitely be invited if it happens…!
See you soon.

We try to keep the garden open on Sunday afternoons (2-5pm) throughout the winter months, but please accept our apologies if the garden is closed due to bad / cold weather…bear with us!
We are planning plenty of ‘building activities’ in the garden over the winter period, and are looking for people who can help out building decking and a path, putting together a greenhouse and digging a second wildlife pond. So get in touch if you want to help out!
See you soon,
