Mixed fruit hedge on Hilly Fields
Thanks to the work of BrocSoc’s tree wardens, the Tree Council has donated 40 metres of mixed fruit hedge – planted around the orchard in March. The hedge has made a good start, but  we need to keep it weeded and mulched for the first couple of years, after which it can fend for itself and give plenty of fruit and nuts.
We need  2 to 3 weeding sessions before the autumn and watering once a week if we get prolonged hot weather!
Email me if you can give an hour or two to help the hedge get established and I’ll forward it to our tree wardens

For our ever-popular raffle please donate your unwanted presents, knick-knacks, toiletries … (winners choose a prize from the selection). Bring them on the day or drop them to Clare’s house, 76 Tyrwhitt Road, SE4 1QB.

Any offers of help: ring Kate on 07930 181 174.

Did you vote?

Here are the results of the Brockley Central blog vote(149 votes…) for the best local newcomer in 2010. Another time I’m sure we can alert our followers and top this! On the other hand I have used all of the first three and am glad all of them exist so maybe a hit parade isn’t the most appropriate approach for encouraging community improvements.
