Running the annual New Cross Learning auction at the Hill Station for the first time was a big success. The auctioneers (Andrew and Audrey) sparkling wit and charming presentation was complemented by the usual great food and wine on offer by the cafe team. The tension was high as competitive bidding set in for the most cherished lots.
And most important of all, the lottery raised a record amount of funds for New Cross Learning – over £3000.
Well done to all who donated prizes, bidded, won, ate, drank, auctioned… great team work for a great cause.
Do your Christmas shopping and support your community library.
See here for the auction catalogue and pick out your ethical, recyclable, recession-friendly treats.
Telephone bids are accepted, though it’s great to be there in person too.
We are looking forward to our annual fundraising auction for New Cross Learning on Saturday 16 November 2013 – and putting out a call for items, and to keep the date free!
Each year we hope to raise around £2,500 towards our running costs.
We’ve had several generous donations over the past two years, including original artworks, lovely holiday homes, signed books, musical instruments and lovely items for the home.
Please do drop by with any items you can spare, or call during our opening hours tel. 0208 320 0813
if you are not sure whether your item might be suitable!
The library is prospering, and we had the largest recorded number of people through the door ever a month ago,
Please check our website for upcoming events – including film screenings on 13 October (3 short films,www.facebook.com/addsoulpeople, £5); and 31 October (a free screening of Project Wild, a joyous documentary about getting your kids back to nature by local film-maker David Bond), and a fantastic Black History Month exhibition.
With many thanks for all your support,
New Cross Learning
