Somerville stakeholder event

Dear Friend

We would like to invite you to participate in a discussion on the needs of Somerville Estate and how we – residents activists, community organisations, faith groups, local statutory agencies workers and local councillors – can work together more effectively to improve conditions on the estate for current and future residents.

The meeting has come about following conversations with residents and estate workers who have told us about current problems and issues, and shared their concerns about life getting harder for many as public services change and reduce, and pressures on households increase through lack of job opportunities, changes in the  benefit systems, youth unemployment etc.

In collaboration with Somerville United Tenants and Residents Association we want to ask you to come together to help find ways and means of addressing issues within the estate.

You are therefore invited to come to Barnes Wallis Community Centre on Tuesday 23rd April 2013 pm at 6.45pm.  Light refreshments will be available and the event will finish not later than 9pm.

This is not a public meeting; we want to have a focused discussion drawing on the knowledge and skills of those already active on the estate.  We are inviting people who are either resident activists (e.g. committee members on Somerville United), those who run community activities (e.g. Somerville Adventure Playground, Barnes Wallis Centre user groups ) or are local workers employed to deliver services and support on the estate (e.g. Edmund Waller and Kender primary schools, Lewisham Homes tenancy officers, Safer Neighbourhood Team). We would be grateful if each organisation or agency working on the estate would send at least one representative.

To help us plan the running of the session we would be grateful if you would confirm your attendance by reply to this email and telling us:
  • Your name.
  • The name of the group/ organisation that you will be representing.
  • Confirm that you are able to attend.
  • Provide a mobile phone number – just in case we have another snowstorm or similar ‘event’ that might lead us to have to cancel the event!
  • Name, email or telephone number of anyone else you think we should invite to the morning.

Please reply to Maya  Onyett, Telegraph Hill Ward Assembly Coordinator,
Thank you in anticipation of your reply and attendance. We look forward to seeing you then.

Cllr Paul Bell
Cllr Joan Millbank
Cllr Dan Whittle
