New X-ING Relay will run from Sep 21st to Oct 6th
This is a community performance opportunity and is based on Lewisham Way just outside the Goldsmiths Library. There is a mini Street Stage and Artmongers are now accepting entries for the performance program. Contact email@example.com if you would like to join in. Singers, musicians, poets, social commentators, storytellers, jugglers, acrobats, dancers… if you can do it in public on 4 square metres of stage you’re welcome to apply. More info at http://newxing.wordpress.com/. Volunteers also needed for the flashmob event on Sep 29th.
A small amount of money is available for costs you might incur (eg costumes, props).
A message from Cedric Porter:
“I am looking for anyone who might be interested in taking part in a play reading to mark the millennium of the martyrdom of St Alfege in Greenwich.
The murder of the Archbishop of Canterbury by Viking raiders was the 9/11 of its day, sending shockwaves throughout Christian Western Europe and having a huge influence on the development of the inclusive English poltiical system we still have today.
My play Swordwater tries to explore these and other issues but I was unable to raise the funding needed for a production at Greenwich Playhouse whose landlords have also refused to renew their lease.
The play reading will take place at St James Church, in St James, New Cross on Saturday June 2 at 5pm as one of the events accompanying a Jubilee street party being organised there by New Cross Learning – the former Library.
