The Tactile Eye 21 Mar

How do we feel what we see? How do we see what we can’t feel?

Talk and workshop by artist Francesca Perona

21 Mar at the Hill Station, Kitto Rd

Throughout March and April artist Francesca Perona will be exhibiting at Hill Station. Her work uses textiles, digital technologies and interactive materials to challenge our senses, amplifying tactility, vision and hearing.

In this exhibition wearable soft sculptures will become immersive sonic and tactile environments, activated by the haptic explorations of the visitors. Invisible electromagnetic fields will transform inert liquids into moving, semi-solid textural surfaces, revealing the power of invisible forces to the human eye. In the opening event Francesca will be exploring and explaining the methods and media she uses and the influence of her varied background in textiles and responsive materials on her artistic practice. Part of the event will be a hands on workshop where participants will become the artist, scientist or alchemist discovering the wonders of everyday materials.

Sharing Lunch 26 Dec

Whether you just fancy a change of scene or you’d like a bit of company over the holiday period, you are extremely welcome to join us for our Boxing Day sharing lunch.

We’ve been doing this for a few years now at the Hill Station on Kitto Rd. It’s a casual affair, pop in for a free cup of tea sharing foodand a quick chat or bring along some of your festive leftovers and share with others. I’ve particularly enjoyed it when people have brought food they would have eaten at Christmas in their home country, but mince pies are welcome too!

We’ll be around and open from 12 till 4. Hope to see you there.
