Volunteer Paint Party – will you join in??

Sam was there… and John, chair of Bold Vision… and a couple more. We are hoping lots more of you can come along this Saturday. Please bring a brush if you can, and any spare white emulsion (you know that half finished tin under the stairs… here’s your chance to use it up in a good cause)

If you missed out last time… or loved it and want some more involvement, then do come along to one of our paint parties this month. Every Saturday in Feb, 11am to 3pm. Be useful, improve your DIY skills, meet your neighbours and even get a free cup of coffee.

Let Sue know on when you can come along – even if it’s just for an hour. No previous experience required.

Paving the way

You might have noticed work is going on behind the wall at the Hill Station. For those of you who haven’t managed a sneaky peak, this photo shows the lovely new concrete floor that has now been laid. Depending on how the curing process goes we are hoping part of our Annual General Party (and meeting) next Friday Jan 20 can take place in this emerging new space.

Meet and help us expand on Oct 1st

Thanks to the generosity of local people and two significant external grants from The
Garfield Weston Foundation and Lewisham Social Enterprise we have raised an additional £23K towards the next stage of the building of The Hill Station Community Cafe.  This means that this autumn we will start digging out the second half of the undercroft space and lay a new thermal  floor so we can extend the space and prepare for phase III of the cafe development.    This is such good news and we are so grateful to all of you who have supported the development of this important community asset.

In preparation for this building work we are organising a special volunteer morning on Saturday 1st October from 9am – 2pm. If you are around and want to come up to help for an hour or discuss with us the next stages of the project you’d be so welcome. There will be a yard sale of some of the furniture which was donated but not used. More info here Poster for Bold Vision volunteering day – 1st October 2011

All hands were on deck 14.05.11

As you might have seen, something is going on in front of the Hill Station cafe…. still open for business as usual but in the spirit of constant improvement…

(first the toilet then the serving bar and now the deck… and we have further plans, funding permitting)

…the latest community team effort has been to dig up the asphalt in front of the Hill Station.

This will be followed by decking and planters with apple trees… more volunteers still needed, just drop us a line to join in the fun. Get fit, learn new skills, meet your neighbours and help create something beautiful!
