New Cross Learning Fundraising Auction Nov 16

We are looking forward to our annual fundraising auction for New Cross Learning on Saturday 16 November 2013 – and putting out a call for items, and to keep the date free!
Each year we hope to raise around £2,500 towards our running costs.
We’ve had several generous donations over the past two years, including original artworks, lovely holiday homes, signed books, musical instruments and lovely items for the home.
Please do drop by with any items you can spare, or call during our opening hours tel. 0208 320 0813 if you are not sure whether your item might be suitable!
The library is prospering, and we had the largest recorded number of people through the door ever a month ago,
Please check our website for upcoming events – including film screenings on 13 October (3 short films,, £5); and 31 October (a free screening of Project Wild, a joyous documentary about getting your kids back to nature by local film-maker David Bond), and a fantastic Black History Month exhibition.
With many thanks for all your support,
New Cross Learning

Wanted 2 Fundraiser Jun 21

Last year saw the first ‘Wanted’ a night of music to raise funds for a PA for Hill Station – around £400 was raised.   This year sees another push following the Solstice parade.

Wanted 2 starts at 7.30pm on Friday 21st June at Hill Station, there will be music, comedy, food (a BBQ), a raffle (with amazing prizes!) and a licensed bar.

Acts include:

  • Eliza & Pearl (Folk harmonies)
  • Open Road (Bluegrass and Country)
  • Dino (Singer/Songwriter)
  • Phil & Martin (Comedy/Sketches)
  • Paul & Maggie (Jazz)
  • Jon & Anna (Acoustic Pop)
  • Pagoda Sun (Acoustic Folk Pop)
  • The Pretty Boys (Winston, Lex and Ben – Eclectic and Surpising)

Tickets are £5 / £3 (concessions) – BOOK NOW!

Some asked – Why a PA?   The Festival PA is huge and heavy, is stored away at the furthest end of Telegraph Hill Centre and often in use (esp. during the Festival).   Having a Hill Station PA will ensure a simple ‘plug and play’ option throughout the year, but especially at Festival time.

Wheel Appeal

As New Cross Learning broadens its offer for the local community, the volunteers are having to spend more time heaving bookshelves out of the way. Nobody’s idea of fun.

So maybe you don’t feel like doing it for them but you could help by paying for a heavy duty caster to be fitted making light of heavy reading.

Just click on the paypal button and donate £30. There that’s one more wheel done, thank you.

(note if we get more wheel donations than we have places to put them then we will let you know and see if its ok with you to use the money towards children’s book furniture instead)
