World Book Day: Mar 1

To celebrate World Book Day in New Cross Library on 1 March, there will be a Big Book Swap in the library from 6pm-8pm. It’s free, open to all ages, there will be refreshments and other activities, and all are welcome, – please bring at least one book to swap!

This will be followed by a Big Book Sale on Sunday 4 March (2-5pm) with second hand books selling for bargain prices – with most paperbacks priced 5 for £1 and hardbacks or large paperbacks £1 or £2 each – cheaper than our usual second hand book prices. Come along & bring friends to help raise funds for the library in 2012

Despite the amazing prices, we have incredible books on sale – you won’t be disappointed.

New Cross Documentary workshop Feb 29

New Cross People’s Library, New Cross Road, London SE14 6AS

Come to the library for a drop-in workshop on what New Cross means to you. You can write, speak, draw, dance, or play music – whatever you’re most comfortable with. A camera crew will be on hand to interview you or capture your thoughts, drawings, poems and make everything into a documentary about New Cross.

First Chinese Dragon in Lewisham

New Cross Learning (formerly the library) did a fantastic job of building a dragon in the library with local school children and volunteers, then parading the streets. See it here…

Volunteer Paint Party – will you join in??

Sam was there… and John, chair of Bold Vision… and a couple more. We are hoping lots more of you can come along this Saturday. Please bring a brush if you can, and any spare white emulsion (you know that half finished tin under the stairs… here’s your chance to use it up in a good cause)

If you missed out last time… or loved it and want some more involvement, then do come along to one of our paint parties this month. Every Saturday in Feb, 11am to 3pm. Be useful, improve your DIY skills, meet your neighbours and even get a free cup of coffee.
