Well done to everyone for all the great effort with shed building, harvesting, planting, weeding, tidying, snale catching and more! The rain stayed away long enough to make it a very productive afternoon.

We also had a little picnic with lots of Home Made Goodies: Elderflower Jelly/Champagne (an experience we’ll never forget! tasty but weird), Spanish Omelette, Humus and Bread, and Fruit Cake. And thanks to Zuhura for making tea for everyone! The Rum and Coke also went down very well.

Attached some pictures from Sunday the 10th of June.

There is currently lots and lots of lettuce ready to be picked. Please pop by some time to harvest some before the snails do! It’s really tasty and of course organic!

In the second of a series of 6 workshops Common Growth Community Garden will be exploring how to put the principles of permaculture into practice. This workshop will examine soil, compost and worms. There will be a practical exercise to make a DIY wormery.
We suggest you either donate £3 or give a commitment of your time to the garden this summer.

From Friday 27 April to Sunday 6 May the NXDFFF will be screening films in some very unusual places including two parks, an adventure playground, the walls of the tiny white-tiled prison cells at Deptford Old Police Station and from a 40ft lorry turned mobile cinema. Events include bike-powered open-air family screenings, film-based discussions on topics of local/global concern, and screenings of local filmmakers work. The New Cross and Deptford Free Film Festival is organised and run entirely by volunteers with guidance and support from the Peckham and Nunhead Free Film Festivals group. If you would like to support us please make a donation at http://www.sponsume.com/project/new-cross-deptford-free-film-festival
